What’s the difference between your horizontal and vertical slot register models?
Our horizontal slot registers and grilles are milled from a single piece of solid wood on our custom-built machines. There are no glued joints to dry out, loosen or crack. These are your best option where strength and durability are important, such as high-traffic floor areas. They offer a mono-directional airflow.
Our vertical slot models are precision engineered for maximum strength and durability, while providing an optimal, bi-directional airflow volume. They are assembled to tight tolerances using our proprietary TightJoint™ design. This process machines assembled members after joining, leaving no glue traces to cause areas of uneven staining or finishing.
What wood species do you recommend for registers that will be painted instead of stained?
If the register is to be painted to match a wall, vinyl, carpeting or ceramic tile, we suggest using Poplar or Maple. These woods have a tight, closed grain, which will afford a smoother surface. Red and White Oak have an open grain, which—while perfect for attractive staining—will show through the paint.

Interior dimensions of your duct opening; for custom sizes, please indicate whether the size you’re giving us is of the duct opening or the overall outside register dimension.
